Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor

Battle River Alliance for Economic Development (BRAED) along with several other project partners hosted a seminar, Attracting Foreign Direct Investment to Eastern Alberta, in Wainwright on November 2, 2011 to help Eastern Alberta businesses and communities learn how marketing to Foreign Direct Investors can bolster economic development, attract new businesses, and sell commercial industrial properties. This Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor (click map for more information) Seminar included 3 Power Point presentations:

The Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor is more than a major north/south transportation route that connects the United States border in the south to the major oil sands projects in Northern and North Eastern Alberta.

It is also a viable safer option to connect to the Industrial Heartland, north of Edmonton and the major potential that exists serving North Eastern Alberta oil projects.  The Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor provides companies and investors the opportunity to connect to industries all along its route whether it is in agriculture, manufacturing, defence, tourism or transportation and distribution.

Establishing along the Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor provides direct access to the oil sands in Northern Alberta and to the heavy oil and gas developments north of Cold Lake and Bonnyville.

Major oil and gas development is taking place all along the Eastern side of Alberta from Cold Lake south to past Lloydminster. Increased development arising from advanced technology, pipelines and power utility corridors stretches from Wainwright through to Medicine Hat.

Investing along the Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor will reduce the cost in transporting products and services required now and in the future.

Combined with the high activity level in agriculture Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor provides huge savings in land cost. Access to an educated workforce and a high quality of life are additional advantages to investing along the corridor. Opportunities exist that provide a greater land base for manufacturing and lower taxes that reduce the overall cost of operations.

The Canadian Military has an Air Force base in Cold Lake and the Army Bases in Wainwright and Suffield that provide excellent marketing opportunities and are directly accessed within the Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor. Major expansion plans are underway that offer companies increased business opportunities.

Establishing closer to major developments saves dollars and with the lower cost of living for employees the Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor is the ideal place to invest. Easy, quick, safe access to all industries, high quality of life, lower cost of living and an educated work force are the attractive components of the Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor.
